Improving MANET Mobility and Connectivity using ACM
A novel architecture is presented to integrate MANETs with the Internet and support mobility across Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) and MANETs. The mobiles, connected as a MANET, employ the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol for routing within the MANET. Mobility management across WLANs and MANETs is achieved through the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) protocol. This architecture is validated by an integrating implementation based on HMIPv6 0.3 and INRIA OOLSR. A new type of message called Auto Configuration Message (ACM) to achieve the transfer of MAP options and GW address in MANET is used. Handoff latencies were achieved to evaluate our implementation. The new approach achieves a gain in handoff latency over OOLSR with MIPv6.
Mobile Ad-Hoc multipoint relays handoff latency connectivity.
