Grouping-based Clustering Routing Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have come to the forefront of the scientific community recently. Network lifetime, scalability, and load balancing are important requirements for many wireless sensor network applications. Utilizing sensor nodes energy can maintain a prolonged network lifetime. Clustering sensor nodes is an effective technique for achieving this goal. In this work, we propose a new energy-efficient approach for cluster-based routing in wireless sensor networks. Distributed grouping scheme whereby cluster heads (CHs) partition themselves into groups such that CHs that fall within a given group are relatively close to one another in terms of geographical distance. We apply this grouping strategy to the CHs routing in wireless sensor networks so that the coarsegrained knowledge of sensors is required, the average energy consumption on the resultant WSN is low, and the network lifetime has an obvious improvement.
