An Alternative Means for Delivering Web Documents to Mobile Phones

This paper proposed a framework, Doc2Mms, for adapting some existing Web documents with special file type to MMS so that these contents can be rendered on small screen mobile phones. Doc2Mms integrates functions of ICAP proxy, content adaptation proxy and MMS sender. It provides an alternative means to retrieve web content for mobile terminals and overcomes the deficiency in presenting web documents with special file type such as .pdf, .doc and .rtf on mobile communication terminals. Being designed based on the de-facto standards, the framework has great extensibility.
