Research on purchasing strategy based on supplier relationship
Increased attention on supply chain management has highlighted the pivotal role that supply chain management and purchasing teams can play in the overall competitiveness of many firms. From a purchasing point of view, it can be argued that in order for a supply chain to be efficient the cost of purchasing must be balanced with risk pertaining to the supply market and the purchased product. To decide on the appropriate forms of supplier relationships today, this paper presents findings that there are three main dimensions to be considered. These are a more complex environment, supply chain efficiency and product life cycle. After studying these three dimensions, the paper gives the conclusion that we should choose an appropriate form and level of relationship with a supplier in a given situation.
