Spatial Informations of Underground Water level Based on Applied Geostatistics

The statistical method is one of most effective tools to describe many phenomena qualitatively or quantitatively from sampling. However, the information containing in spatial locations of samples is not considered and used in most of statistical procedures. In geostatistics, the traditional statistical method is utilized and the spatial information is taken into account. Geostatistical methods have been expanded to many other scientific fields for their unique statistical and interpolating advantages. In this paper, we applied ordinary kriging technique, one of the geostatistical methods, to analyze the spatial variability and gain the spatial informations of annual underground water lever at 203 observation wells for Yellow River watershed during the period from 1997~2001.The result revealed that the semivariograms of water lever were best described by spherical variogram model .The final parameters attained indicated that the range of every year presented geometry anisotropy. Underground water level is one most important factor of water balance, So gaining the spatial informations of underground water lever accurately is invaluable for understanding water cycle process.
