A Comprehensive Analysis of Determinants of Physical Growth of Chinese Cities

摘要：

The unprecedented urban economic growth in China has promoted city growth．Built upon the standard monocentric urban and model,this empirical study investigates the determinants of city size．Taking into consideration additional China．Specific characteristics．One cross sectional urban spatial seale model is estimated using data from 659 Chinese cities for years 2002，2003，and 2004．The findings suggest that sizes of Chinese cities are not only affected by government planning but also by more dominating market forces．
