Ethanol separation through ultrasonic atomization - mist collection under elevated pressure
Ultrasound of 2.4 MHz was irradiated to 27 mol% ethanol aqueous solution in order to form the mist which is rich in ethanol. The mist was collected in a reservoir under an elevated pressure and a temperature at -20 degree C. The amount and ethanol concentration of the collected liquid was significantly improved. More than90 % of the generated mist was collected. The comparison between with and without irradiating ultrasound suggestedthat the mist generated ultrasonically contains a higher concentration than the vapor formed without irradiating ultrasound.
