Preparation of five member ring cyclic carbonates using CO2 as raw material represents one of the most attractive routes for chemical fixation of CO2, as cyclic carbonates have a large market owing to their broad usage as solvents, intermediates, fuel additives and monomers for polymers. Usually, this route employs epoxide as starting material and has been extensively investigated 1.
