Numerical analysis of gas explosion process in linked vessels

To investigate the mechanism of explosion, laws of development and influent factors in linked vessels, control equations of gas explosion was built based on k-ε model and Finite-rate/Eddy-dissipation model. Numerical analysis was made for different duct diameters and initial pressure. Temperature contours and history of pressure ,density ,rate of reaction were presented. The simulation results show that shape changing, jet of lame, reverse flow and gas compression forming a positive feedback is the major reason which causes stronger explosion in linked vessels; In a definite range, the smaller the pipe diameter is, the shorter the explosion elay is; Peak pressure is proportional to initial pressure, which proportionality coefficient is 8 ~8.5. The duct is easily broken because of the most intense explosive reaction in it.
