A Convenient Method to Prepare Slicing Samples of Raw Silk for Extracting the Cross-sectional Shapes
Hardys slicer is used to obtain the transverse slicing samples of raw silk, which is necessary for analyzing the cross-sectional shape. However, the cross-section of raw silk is often deformed during the slicing process. In this paper, a convenient way was proposed to obtain good slicing samples for cross-section extraction. The raw silk sample was dyed into red first, and then was evenly covered by several kinds of fibers laid parallel, and finally was coated with collodion. The slice of the raw silk sample was obtained, the color image of it was taken, and the cross-section curve was extracted.
