Outer Diameter Measurement of Raw Silk Thread by Using Laser-Scan Micro-Gauge System
The measuring technology of the diameter for thin filaments has progressed to high accuracy and high speed by advanced technology. On the other hand, measuring methods for raw silk size are used conventional way. In this research, we conducted verification of possibility for measuring the diameter of raw silk thread by a laser scanning micro-gauge. Five kinds of raw silk threads of 14, 21, 27, 40, 60 denier were measured by laser scanning micro-gauge, and it evaluated by comparison with the cross-section observation by the microscope, and stability of data by the sequential measurement. As a result, we could confirm the reproducibility and some problems of the measurement with the laser scanning micro-gauge were able to be verified.
