Statistical Analysis of Silkworm Spinning Behaviour under Abnormal Circumstances
The cocoon construction process of silkworms was analyzed under the abnormal situation where a part of a cocoon was cut off before being completed. The spinning behaviour of three N124×C124 silkworms was measured before and after cutting their cocoons with a razor. The result shows that the silkworms tend to intensively spin the broken part immediately. The repair behaviour was different between the silkworms depending on the spinning stage of the silkworm and the size of the cut area.
