Effect of guide plate gauge of a web cleaner installed on a carding machine on card sliver quality

摘要：

In order to find the effect of guide plate gauge of a web cleaner on the back plate of a carding machine on card sliver quality, card sliver produced under conditions of different guide plate gauge was tested by USTER AFIS. The results show that all contents of neps, seed coat neps and short fiber, etc. decrease remarkably with the increase of guide plate gauge of web cleaner. Compared with parameters in the condition that a small gauge (1mm) is adopted, contents of neps, seed coat neps, trash, dust and SFC (n), SFC(w), and IFC in the condition that a large gauge (3mm) is adopted decrease 18.6％, 42.9％, 16.7％, 25％, 2.4％, 1.6％ and 3.1％ respectively, but neither 5.0％ weighted average length by fiber number nor 25％ fiber weighted average length by weight is improved.
