The Mechanical Properties of PET ATY for Car-Seat Fabrics

Todays demand of automobile textiles is increased because automobile industry are expanded. And high performance materials are needed for automobile textiles. Especially, mechanical properties of PET such as friction resistance, formability, and light fastness are excellent. Therefore this paper surveys the mechanical properties of PET ATY for car-seat fabrics. For this purpose, PET POY 250d/48f is made on the melt spinning frame, draw textured yarn, DTY 150d/48f is made on texturing m/c, and air textured yarn (ATY) is made using four kinds of DTY. So, 9 kinds of PET ATY 600d/192f are prepared. Air jet texturing conditions such as two kinds of parameters such as texturing speed and overfeed are surveyed. The yarn mechanical properties such as yarn count, thermal and dry shrinkage and tensile properties such as tenacity, breaking strain, initial modulus and energy are measured and discussed with yarn texturing conditions. Hereafter, it is estimated that high performance car- seat fabrics are developed through this study.
