Electrospinning of polyamide 6/66 copolymer nano-scale fiber yarns and their structure and mechanical properties
A technique for spinning continuous yarns constructed of nano-scale fibers instead of non-woven obtained by general electrospinning was described in the paper. The spinning method was composed of electrospinning and wet-spinning. Polyamide 6/66 copolymer solution in formic acid was used as the spinning material. Optimized spinning parameters were determined by orthogonal design and independent experiments. Six factors and three levels for each factor were taken into account in the orthogonal experiments. These factors included voltage, solution flow rate, tip-to- collector distance, rotation speed, bath solution concentration, and inner diameter of spinneret. Continuous polyamide 6/66 yarn with parallel nano- scale fiber uniaxially was fabricated, and spinning process was not intermitted within 240 minutes. Average fiber diameter was 278nm. Stress and strain at break of the yarn (1.1 dtex) was 1.36cN/dtex and 122% respectively.
