Cotton Fabrics on the Silk Road
Silk Road is a main artery linking up politics, economy, culture and communication between China and Western countries. Seen from the cultural interaction of textile technology, when silks as the largest- scale and most profitable of all the trade were exported to the West, cotton fabrics endlessly imported to China on the Silk Road. From the archaeological evidence of the worlds consumption of cotton, we can see that the spread of cotton in the Old World is linked with the communication in ancient societies. There are many archaeological discoveries of cotton fabrics in Xinjiang, called the West Region in ancient times, and this requires further research.
