Dyeing Properties of B. mori Silk Fabric Finished with Nano-TiO2 and Chitosan

Based on the idea of green chemistry and ecological textile, a novel nano-TiO<,2> and chitosan composite dispersoid was prepared. As one of the natural organic macromolecule and inorganic nano-particles dispersoid, it was used to modify Bombyx mori (B. mori) silk fabric. In this paper, nano-TiO<,2> and chitosan treatment improved the dyeability of two different acid dyes and two different reactive dyes on B. mori silk fabrics. The dye uptake of acid dyes and reactive dyes, dye fixation of reactive dyes, the dye depth of acid dyes and reactive dyes on the finished silk fabric all increased after treatment. It was also found that the treatment has no discernable effect on the colorfastness of these dyes to rubbing, but increased washing colorfastness of two dyes (Lanaset Blue 2R and Cibacron Blue FN-G).
