Effect of Thermomechanical Treatment on Microstructure and Damping Capacity of Fe-Mn Alloy
The effect of Thermomechanical treatment on epsilon martensite phase and damping capacity of Fe-Mn alloys has been investigated. It is known about Fe-Mn that damping capacity elevates as the amount of epsilon martensite phase increases. In this study, Thermomechanical treatment, which is sub-zero treatment and the process of keeping the alloy at 600℃ for 30minutes, has been repeated three times. Fe-Mn of chemical compositions has been used as the test materials. The effect of Thermomechanical treatment on epsilon martensite phase has been investigated by TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) and the effect on damping capacity has been examined by Apparatus for the Measurement of Internal Friction. In addition, the hardness of all the specimens has been measured by Micro Vickers Hardness Tester.
