The Application of Generalized Predictive Control in the X-Y Table
This paper presents the design and evaluation of a predictive controller for a servo system on the basic theory and properties of the generalized predictive control (GPC). The performance of the GPC has been evaluated by application to the X-Y table driven by timing belts. In comparison, both GPC and PID control strategies are simulated in tracking tasks. The simulation results show that the servo system with the GPC strategy has more favourable dynamic performance than that with PID control scheme for tracking tasks in the non-linear system.
