Research on Possibility Model of Newsboy Problem with Discrete Fuzzy Demand

Based on centroid eigenvalue of possibility distribution function, this paper presents a profit model for determining the order quantities of newsboy problem with discrete fuzzy demand. It analyses the relation between cost and profit models. The result shows: 1) the order quantities from possibility cost and profit models based on the centroid of possibility distribution function are not equal with each other; 2) with various order quantities, the sum of fuzzy possibility cost and profit is not constant. The numerical example shows that the centroid method is not appropriate.
