On Geoparks and Sustainable Development
Geoparks are a new thing emerging in the 21st century. They aim to protect geological heritages, popularize knowledge of Earth sciences, undertake tourism and promote local economic development. In this paper an attempt is made to deal with the role of geoparks in sustainable development, the duty and mission of geoscientists in the promotion of the sound development of the geopark undertaking in aspects of the utilization of geological heritage resources, popularization of geosciences and local economic growth.
