NUMERICAL SIMULATION FOR EFFECTS OF CANTILEVERED PARAPETS ON WIND PRESSURES OF LOW-RISE BUILDING DOUBLE-SLOPE ROOF
In combination with research on the wind load and wind-resistance behavior of low-rise buildings, numerical simulation is carried out for mean wind- induced pressures acting on low-rise buildings with fiat roof utilizing the CFD software CFX10.0 with turbulent SST k-ω model and hybrid grids. The results have a good coincidence with that of both full-scale and with tunnel experiments, which validates models correctness. Numerical simulation on that model with cantilevered parapets shows this device can significantly reduce high suction peaks on roof corners and mean wind pressures.
