RACTURE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF SERVICE SAFETY FOR THE AGING STEEL TRUSS BRIDGE
The service safety for the aging steel truss bridges with cracking members, has aroused a great deal of attention. A variety of engineering accidents took place, in which the material stress is far lower than the yield strength of steel. Assessment of service safety for the aging steel truss bridges with cracking members, should be taken in many aspects. In this paper, it is introduced that the results of the nondestructive test and field dynamo-static tests and three-point bending tests of three specimens with mode-I fracture. The theories of fracture mechanics for evaluating the allowable stress and fatigue capability are provided. Finally, the assessment results of an aging steel truss bridge in Qiaihaer, China, are present according to the test results and theoretical values and the codes.
