THE MODEL OF NON-LINEAR ANALYSIS OF RC STRUCTURE WALLS

Non-linear analysis of RC walls is one of the most difficult problems in the design and research of engineering structures. Many analysis models have been proposed, such as finite model (FEM) and macro- element model. This paper systematically investigates the existing references to compare of different models. It can be concluded that the macro-element model is the better choice for non-linear analysis of the whole structure because of its simplicity and mechanical rationality. However, the macro-element also has some disadvantages, such as the mechanical properties of component elements of macro-element model are determined mostly through experience. The discussion on the analytical methods of shear response of RC wall indicates that the modified compression-field theory or/ and the softened-truss model are feasible for MVLEM without making any additional assumptions. Nevertheless, because of the inherent deficiencies, the two theories Deeds further study.
