DISCUSSION ON THE TORQUE OF SPANDREL BEAM OF LONG-SPAN FLOOR BEAM STRUCTURE

To accurately calculate the torque of spandrel beam is not an easy work for many designers, especially in a long-span floor beam structure. As in such a structure, the torque of spandrel beam could be very large through traditional elastic theory, designs according to which often cause a lot of waste. The purpose of this paper is to find a much easier and more economic way to deal with long-span floor beam structure while ensuring its safety. First, several crucial factors related to the spandrel beams torque are found; second, the appliance of torque-re-duced factor is discussed; at last, solutions and suggestions are given based on a project the writer once did.
