STATIC ANALYSIS ON WOOD SHEARWALL WITHOUT HOLD-DOWNS USING ANSYS SOFTWARE
Wood shearwalls are most important vertical lateral loads resisting systems. For some reasons, hold-down connections normally used to resist overturning are not always existed in wood-frame construction. Not all of the required results of wood shearwalls can be obtained from experimental investigations due to some restrictions of test conditions. A static finite element analysis on the behavior of no hold-down wood shearwall with normal configuration under monotonic lateral loads is carried out using ANSYS. Stress distributions in framings and sheathings are presented which cannot be easily obtained from experimental research. Lateral load-deflection curve resulted from ANSYS analysis agrees well with the curve from test.
