A SOUNDNESS EVALUATION METHOD FOR DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION OF BRIDGE SUBSTRUCTURES
Because of its sensitivity to damages, the natural frequency is selected as an index to evaluate the integral soundness of bridge substructures. The impact vibration test method is developed as a convenient method to measure the natural frequencies of bridge substructures. The soundness index based on natural frequency is defined and its computation method is presented, based on which the evaluation criteria are introduced. A comprehensive soundness evaluation procedure is proposed to identify the damages of bridge substructures. Furthermore, an engineering case is applied to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed test method and the soundness evaluation method.
