THE EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE EFFECT OF LATERAL RESTRAINT ON EXTERNALLY PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS
The comparative experiments have been carried out on the external prestressed simple beams and frame beams with the same span, section and reinforcement steel. In a statically indeterminate structure, the lateral restraint on the horizontal members is produced by the vertical members. The effect of the lateral restraint on the bearing capacity and crack properties of normal cross-section beams is analyzed. Together with calculations, the conclusion is verified that effective prestressing of horizontal members can be decreased by the secondary axial force caused by the lateral restraint.
