STRESS INCREMENT ANALYSIS ON EXTERNAL STEEL BAR OF EXTERNAL PRESTRESSING REINFORCE CONCRETE FRAME BEAM

Based on the static experiment of four single-span externally prestressed frame beams, chara cteristics of the change of stress increment of the prestressing strands with load on the frame is investigated: the stress increment is approximately in linear relation with the mid-span deflecti on of the beam. Contrast between theoretical calculation and experimental result shows that the practical lateral restraining effect of frame columns on frame beams reduces the effective prestress of the external prestressing strands and their stress increment.
