EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF AIR COOLED CONDENSER PLATFORM IN LARGE THERMAL POWER PLANTS

The air cooled condenser platform is a vertical hybrid structure consisting of reinforced concrete pipe columns and steel truss. It is a new special structure. In order to study the seismic behavior of this structure, a 1/8 scale model is constructed and a pseudo-dynamic test is conducted. In the experiment the model is subjected to EL Centro wave (1940 NS) with the peak value of acceleration varying from 50 gal to 800 gal. The dynamic properties and dynamic response of the structure are obtained in the test. The alteration of the natural frequency of vibration and the damping ratio, the deformation performance, the hysteretic behavior and the failure mode of the model are analyzed. A simplified formula to calculate the horizontal bearing capacity of the structure is suggested based on the results of the experiment.
