PSEUDO-STATIC EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALLS
Seven single story-one bay steel plate shear walls (SPSW) specimens with moment-resisting beam to column connections were tested by pseudo-static methods. Experiment process is presented. Influencing factor including column rigidity and section type, stiffeners position and relative rigidity ratio to the plate were considered. The results of initial stiffness, ultimate load-carrying, ductility and energy dissipation have been figured respectively. The test shows that sequential failure process of specimen is elastic buckling of infill plate, tension-field formed and developed, local buckles occurred at the column flange and column destabilization. Frame stability and fracture have significant effects on SPSW stiffness and ductility, characteristics of hysteretic loops can be optimized by stiffeners rigidity and arrangement. Performance of SPSW with rectangular section column infilling cross stiffened panel is excellent.
