NUMERICAL MODELING AND DYNAMIC TESTING OF A STEEL SKYBRIDGE
Numerical modeling and dynamic testing were conducted on the steel skybridge of a hexadic-tower tall building in this paper. The six towers of the building are connected to each other through six skybridges at the elevation of 90 meters high. A three dimensional finite element model was firstly created, and the first several frequencies and modal shapes were obtained through modal analysis procedure. Dynamic testing was then performed on the skybridge under ambient vibration. Based on the recorded time histories, the real modal parameters of the sky-bridge were obtained using peak picking method. By comparing the calculated modal information and measured modal information through dynamic testing, the accuracy of the numerical model was evaluated. The proved numerical model can then be used to reveal the real behavior of the building and predict the response of the building in future studies.
