DEVELOPMENT OF DISTRIBUTED COLLABORATIVE GIS BASED ON WEB SERVICES FOR URBAN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Collaborative GIS, which aims at geo-information sharing and cooperative decision-support in heterogeneous environment, has been a hot topic in the realm of geographic information science. The present study focuses on how to take full advantage of Web Services technology to overcome the flaws of current Web GIS in the distributed computing model and application model, and make it better to serve collaborative GIS applications. Through analysis of Web-GIS and web services, a service based solution for distributed collaborative GIS is developed around open specifications and open source software. Finally, taking chemical hazards as ex-ample, an application system of urban emergency services is designed and illuminated.
