MONITORING ENVIRONMENTAL DROUGHT DISASTER BY LANDSAT ETM+
The present study uses the land surface dryness index (TVDI) based on an empirical parameterization of the relationship between surface temperature and vegetation index to monitor the environmental drought disaster. It is based on satellite derived information only, and the potential for operational application of the index is therefore large. The spatial pattern and temporal evolution in TVDI has been analyzed using a subset Landsat ETM+data covering Nanjing city. The spatial variation in TVDI reflects the variation in moisture on a large scale.
