THE DURABILITY OF CONCRETE MIXED WITH MAGNETIC WATER

The concrete mixed with magnetic water has been investigated for a long time. The magnetic water can penetrate the core region of cement particles more easily during the cement hydration process, which can improve some properties of concrete. In this research, the effects of magnetic water on the properties of concrete are studied from the following three aspects: concrete micro-pore structure improvement, frost resistance ability, and the drying shrinkage. Magnetic water used in the experiment is obtained by passing tap water through the concrete magnetic field generating device which is invented by the authors. The parameters of the experiment include the magnetic field strength (810mT), the current velocity (0.73m/s), and the length of magnetic field (580mm). Results show that when mixed with magnetic water, the total porosity of concrete can be decreased by 20.8%, magnetic treatment has a positive influence on the pore size distribution of concrete. Moreover, the durability of concrete is greatly improvedby the usage of magnetic water.
