A TRANSIENT DATA-BASED SENSITIVITY METHOD FOR BRIDGE DAMAGE DETECTION
A sensitivity-based finite element model updated method using the transient data for bridge damage identification is presented, to detect the local or distributed change of stiffness in bridge structures. The transient data are obtained from the analytical model of a three-span continuous bridge excited by a moving train. Each 4-axle vehicle in the train is modeled by a 10-degrees-of-freedom dynamic system. The dynamic interaction between the bridge and train is realized through the contact forces between the wheels and track, and the bridge track irregularities are considered. The method is demonstrated by using the velocity data available from a finite element model of a bridge structure in its undamaged state. The efficacy of the method with the presence of measurement noise is studied.
