DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE TESTS OF NEW TYPE VIBRATION GENERATOR WITH ELECTROMAGNETISM ACTUATION
A new type of vibration generator actuated by electromagnetism was developed. It can be conveniently installed on the top or surface of structures, such as buildings and soil ground, to estimate the structural dynamical characteristics. The shaking force is generated from a sliding mass system which is induced by a linear electromagnetism motor. Displacement feedback control mechanism system is adopted to operate various excitation waves, e. g. sinusoidal wave and seismic wave. The excitation force of vibration generators manufactured approaches 900kN, and the frequency ranges from 0.1Hz to 20.0Hz. In the paper, the equipment and mechanism of the vibration generator are introduced firstly. To test its performance excitation experiments of a three- floor building were carried out. Ground vibration was induced by the vibration generator positioned on the ground, and the structural dynamical characteristics were tested. The results showed that the vibration generator actuated by electromagnetism could work stably and had good performance, and with the help of the vibration generator dynamical characteristics tests of huge civil structures could be completed efficiently.
