STATE OF ARTS IN BIOREMEDIATION OF HISTORIC WEATHERED-BUILDING SURFACE LAYER
As a result of exposure to environment, historic building surface layer is subjected to deterioration and weathering action influenced by various physical, chemical and biological damage factors. Numerous conservation treatments have been applied to the protection and reinforcement of it. Most of them, however, either are negative impacts during curing or show very little efficacy. It is necessary that the remediation and reinforcement is achieved without the introduction of material causing irreversibly damage to historic building ones. Thus bioremediation is introduced. This paper provides a comprehensive overview for the bioremediation of weathered-building surface layer and stresses practical significance for the conservation.
