Synthesis of sulfate and selenate sodalites and cancrinites with Tatom variations
With a view to manipulating S and Se clusters in SOD, which produce the blue, green and red colors in this zeolite, the T-atoms in the conventional blue aluminosilicate have been systematically replaced by Ga and Ge to give the additional combinations Ga/Si, Ge/Si, Al/Ge and Al/Ga. Experiments run at 100 °C, 150 °C and 180 °C generally produce SOD or CAN, but FAU, LTA and other phases were also observed. Unlike the “control Na/TMAaluminosilicate- SOD, no color was observed in any of the other calcined SOD products. Several experiments yielded unusually large single crystals of SOD and CAN.
