Recent advances in low silica zeolite synthesis
Synthetic advances in the area of low silica zeolite preparation are presented and discussed. By exploring several different pathways including modification, transformation and synthesis approaches, we have succeeded in lowering the Si/Al ratio of several known zeolites, stabilized a number of fragile frameworks and discovered a route to obtain a low silica variant of SSZ-24 (structure code AFI) which previously existed as a high silica or pure silica structure. In addition, results from low silica zeolite syntheses using ethylene-diamine as a structure-directing agent are discussed.
