Towards predicting catalytic performances of zeolites
The intrinsic activation energies of alkane activation reactions that involve the protonation of the reactant in the rate-limiting step are independent of zeolite structure and of Si/Al ratio. Their observed rates, however, increase with decreasing pore-sizes. Reactions that involve the formation and desorption of alkoxide species in their rate-limiting step strongly depend on the zeolite structure and on the interaction of the adsorbed molecule with the local environment of the acid site. There is a strong dependence on the Si/Al ratio.
