Reactant-selective oxidation over composite zeolite-4A coated Pt/γ -Al2O3 particles
The concept of reactant selectivity via zeolite membranes fabricated on a catalyst particle level has been demonstrated in terms of the oxidation reaction of a mixture of CO and nbutane over composite zeolite-4A coated Pt/ -Al2O3 particles. At the applied conditions, the conversion of n-butane over the composite catalyst is practically zero, attributed to the molecular-sieve effect, while CO oxidation is almost complete because of the reactants CO and O2 diffusing through the zeolite-4A pores and then the oxidation taking place on Pt/ - Al2O3.
