Microporous carbon from biomass
A microporous carbon material with a narrow pore size distribution and a high surface area has been prepared from biomass using KOH as the activating agent. The majority of the pores of the microporous carbon have a diameter of 1-2 nm and the maximum surface area reaches 3200 m2/g. It is also found that the surface area depends on concentration of the activating agent.
