Selective naphthene cracking over cascade dual catalyst in heavy aromatics transalkylation
Deterioration of benzene product purity has been one of the major hurdles in the catalysis of metal supported zeolite catalyst in aromatics transalkylation processing. In the present study, a dual bed catalyst system is developed to tackle the key problem. By selective naphthene cracking, the use of one acidic zeolite as the bottom catalyst can significantly improve the benzene product purity in using mordenite supported platinum catalyst. The selectivity can be appropriately tuned by choosing reaction temperature and catalyst system.
