The characterization of supported mesoporous thin films -supercritical fluid extraction of surfactant templates
Supercritical CO2 extraction (SFE) after modified with MeOH cosolvent was demonstrated to be efficient in removing templates from mesopores and micropores of surfactant-silica composite films, which were generated by Brij56 and P123 surfactant templating syntheses and characterized by FTIR, XRR (X-ray specular reflectivity) and Kr adsorption. Comparing with P123 film, the template-free Brij56 film of pore size =1.89 ~ 2.12 nm exhibits higher wall and film densities, and more ordered mesochannel packing. It is suggested that the presence of mesopores of average size = 4.24 ~ 4.63 nm as well as of micropores inside the silica wall is on P123 film.
