Synthesis and properties of micro/meso molecular sieve composite DY/MCM-48
Molecular sieve composite DY/MCM-48 with the DY zeolite crystal core and mesoporous shell has been successfully synthesized by overgrowing MCM-48 on DY zeolite in the system of mixed surfactants of CTAB and OP-10 in alkaline media. The sample was characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption, SEM and pyridine adsorbed IR. The XRD result shows DY/MCM-48 composite has a well ordered mesoporous MCM-48 phase and a zeolite DY phase. The SEM exhibits that the zeolite DY is covered by small sphere-like particles of MCM-48. The result of N2 adsorption indicates that the composite contains a bimodal mesopore system as well as the microporous structure of DY zeolite. The DY /MCM-48 molecular sieve composite characterized by the pyridine adsorbed IR and catalytic cracking reaction of n-heptane exhibits strong acidity and high catalytic activity. All results were quite different from the mechanical mixture of DY and MCM-48.
