Sliding Windowing Power Control Algorithm for an OFDM Based Wireless LAN
Power control is a key issue for the cellular system, where is not only composed of the principle to enhance the spectrum efficiency but also the stability problem of a control mechanism. In this paper, we define a level based power control (PC) for HIPERLAN/2 system which is a tending candidate for future wireless LAN. To define a benchmark, ideal assumptions for the power control methods are defined. By introducing imperfections resulted from system nature, the implementations of PC in real system are investigated. Where, the pre-processing of measurement for PC is the key issue being considered in this paper. A non-uniform sliding windowing scheme for pre-processing of measurement is described. The relationship between the key parameter of the sliding windowing scheme and the channel coherence time is revealed here. For the performance comparison and analysis in the end, the upper benchmark is given by the ideal power control, whereas the lower benchmark is defined when no power control is applied.
