Pressure Difference Vector Hydrophone-Based Underwater Target Passive Direction Algorithm and Its Application

Pressure difference vector hydrophone-based underwater target passive direction algorithm is investigated in this paper. The method takes use of the combined information of the acoustic pressure and acoustic pressure difference of the target acoustic field. It provides an effective way to solve the accurate passive direction under small array and low frequency conditions. The application to the antisubmarine bomb is conducted, by the simulations with the real radiated noise of a submarine, the influence of the vector hydrophone size, integral time and signal to noise ratio to the direction finding accuracy are analyzed, respectively. The Anechoic tank experimental results are also presented in the paper. By the simulations and anechoic tank experiments, it is shown that the pressure difference vector hydrophone can be applied effectively to direction finding system of the antisubmarine system.
