The Predictions of Sound Field from Submerged Elastic Structures by FEM and BEM
ANSYS V5.5 is a powerful FEM software for calculating the vibration of any complex elastic structures emerged in fluid. However, its ability of sound field post-processing is not so strong. It cannot calculate more physical quantities of sound field from submerged elastic structures, such as the sound power, the directivity, the distribution of sound energy flow, etc. To deal with the weakness of ANSYS V5.5, a software package of BEM has been developed by this paper. At present, only the sound pressure field can be predicted by use of this package, the distribution of displacement on the surface of a structure and its mesh. In the near future, this BEM software package can calculate any physical quantities of sound field as long as the distribution of displacement on the surface of a structure and its mesh are given, which can be finished by any FEM software. This BEM software package developed by us has been verified by method of point source imitation. The result shows that it is reliable. The vibration of a submerged elastic spherical shell excited by a point force and the directivity of its sound field have also been carried out by use of ANSYS V5.5 and by our BEM software package respectively. These numerical results are very consistent with those obtained by the analytical method.
