Finite Element Analysis of Class IV Flextensional Transducer
The Class IV flextensional transducer has been analyzed by using Finite Element Method (FEM) in this paper. Making use of the Modal analysis and Harmonic analysis of ANSYS, the effects of the material and shape of the shell on the resonance frequency and acoustic radiation performance of the transducer have been emulated. The effect of the non-uniform shell thickness on the amplification of the piezoelectric ceramic stacks vibration has been analyzed specially. Proper dimensions have been chosen according to the calculation, and the idea of the amplitude transformer in the ultrasonics has been introduced into the design of the transducer. The sample transducer has been constructed and tested, and then the measured value and computational value have been compared.
